In this addition of Design Dialogues, we spoke with Benjamin Hubert of layer, a London-based designer and creative director whose work bridges human-centered research with future-facing innovation. Benjamin Hubert is a British designer, entrepreneur, and creative leader whose work sits at the forefront of experience-driven design across physical and digital landscapes. As the founder and Creative Director of LAYER, he leads a team of 30 creatives working with global brands such as Nike, Google, Bang & Olufsen, Samsung, and Braun. LAYER’s mission is to define the way we live, work, and communicate through innovations in AI, smart wearables, furniture systems, and next-generation media and communication tools. Hubert’s practice is rooted in a human-centered approach, beginning with how people live and interact with the world around them, then translating insights from macro and micro trends, user interviews, and research into elegant, purposeful solutions.
Since founding LAYER in 2015, Hubert has built a studio that champions partnership over traditional client relationships, focusing on collaboration and shared ambition. His design process varies from short sprints to multi-year developments, depending on the complexity of the project, but always centers on creating meaningful connections between products and users.
